Ironstone Cottage is across the road from Baudin Park at Penneshaw, where you can see many Tammar wallabies and native birds. It is on the 'edge' of town - private but close enough for a walk to swim, a few minutes to the shops/restaurants/pub.
Owner's comment: The ocean is only 200 metres away, where the local dolphins are sited on a regular basis.
The red tail cockatoos are also regular locals in this area due to the many sheoak trees surrounding the cottage.
The beach, ferry terminal, shops and food outlets are only 2-3 minutes drive away .
There are scenic views from both sides of the cottage towards the town and the mainland
There is adequate room in the garage for one car.
Great Cottage, Great Location!
Ironstone Cottage was perfect for our stay at Kangaroo Island. We had an early morning start on our return trip, and hence needed to stay close to the Ferry. The Cottage is nestled high on top of a hill providing beautiful views of the bay and the ferry terminal. Our son would sit on the balcony and watch the ferry and smaller boats come & go. In the evening we would sit and watch the wallabies come for a feed. Our favourite past-time was watching the dolphins swim in the bay. With shops a short drive away, plenty of space within the Cottage, and beautiful views all around, Ironstone Cottage was truly a home away from home for us. Shekar - March 2016
Perfect place to stay in Kangaroo Island
Its a large 3-bedroom cottage which has a rustic, old world charm. Its located very close to the Penneshaw jetty and the town shops and yet it seems so far away from any noise or interference of the town. We, a group of five adults, were greeted by two shy kangaroos the moment we arrived. The cottage itself is beautifully maintained. Amazing views of the ocean are visible from all balconies. In the morning we explored the surrounding hills and spotted some lovely birds. We also enjoyed the view of few dolphins playing around in the ocean water. We fell so much in love with the place that we decided to extend our stay by a couple of hours. We highly recommend this place to anyone planning a stay in kangaroo Island. RishiMarch 2016
